AR-15 Pre-ban upper on a Post-Ban Lower receiver
I was looking at building an AR-15 for myself, and I noticed you could buy a Pre-Ban upper and a Post-Ban lower receiver. ( YES I KNOW THAT IT IS ILLEGAL). This aroused a question in me: Would a Pre-Ban upper fit on a Post-Ban lower reciever. (AGAIN, YES I KNOW THAT IT IS ILLEGAL, AND I HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF DOING THIS, I AM JUST CURIOUS).
Thanks

yes is the simple answer. If they are both mil spec then there is no fit issue. My 2 cents [8D]

There is nothing in the AR design that would prevent any combination of upper & lower; however, there are differences in the hole size at the front of certain brands that may require an inexpensive adaptor.
I discourage those new to AR's from building their own. You don't save a lot of money, you don't have a warranty, & you will always have to make excuses for your Mixed Part Mongrel. Yes, there are some guys on this forum with the skill to convert an old toaster to an AR upper that will shoot sub-MOA, but most of us would be better off buying a complete rifle new in the box.

Do not assemble until after the ban expires, don't get caught with an evil bayonet lug on a postban weapon.
There are some that manufacture their AR parts out of mil spec to fit only their own lowers....Is Bushmaster one of them? I seem to recall that....go here and ask-look for your AR questions...www.ar15.com
