there isnt any difference what you shoot it in, carbine, pistol, whatever. as long as its 9x19, 9mm luger whatever you want to call it, it should be ok

    the above response is incorrect.
EAGLE, SAMSON, and IMI as well as several other manufacturers and military suppliers sell "CARBINE ONLY" 9mm luger ammunition.

we stock the EAGLE MATCH GRADE 9MM LUGER +P FMJ CARBINE ONLY MATCH GRADE ammo in standard 50 round boxes. the heads / tips are painted black like armor piercing rifle ammo in order to distinguish it from NATO STANDARD PISTOL AMMO. the case base headstamp is IMI 9MM CARB marked in order to distinguish it from NATO STANDARD PISTOL AMMO.

the primers are "PAINTED" purple. the box states / warns "CAUTION: AMMUNITION MARKED +P ON THE BOX IS LOADED TO MAXIMUM CARBINE PRESSURE AND SHOULD ONLY BE USED IN ARMS DESIGNATED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR USE THEREWITH..."

while GLOCK states there pistols can handle carbine only ammo, i would not go there.

DO NOT USE CARBINE AMMO IN A PISTOL. its not worth the risk. best regards, mike.

Mike is DEFINATELY correct. Its not worth the risk to fire carbine ammo in pistols!!. 9MM is too cheap to chance it.Some machine gun ammo also has much harder primers.

    Love them Pre-64's!!!!-Bob

Actually I had this same question about this ammo last year and this is what I found out from IMI. Hope this helps.

quote:The correct updated description for "9mm Carb" is 9mm Luger +P. 9mm Luger +P is loaded to higher pressure levels than standard 9mm Luger ammo. 9mm Luger +P can have pressure of up to 2550 KG/CM 2 while standard Luger can have pressure of up to only 2320 KG/CM 2. The 9mm Luger +P round is designed for use with 9mm Luger +P pistols and also for use in submachine guns. Therefore 9mm Luger +P should not be considered as safe for firing in every pistol. The primer for both the +P round and the standard Luger round can be identical.
