TIG Welding?
What grade of wire would you use for a modern blued gun to tig up some pits?

Well I can't help you with the wire gage, but I can point out a problem you might have. I had a cadet martini with some minor pitting on the receiver, had it welded up and re-blued. Problem was where the receiver was welded, it took the bluing different then the rest of the receiver. Looked to be alittle lighter. The way it was explained to me was at that point the metal alloy was different(stands to reason) so accepted the bluing process differently. I finally just had it plated with a matte nickle. OR you could color case harden it ...was my second option. Good Luck! ...Mark

another problem depends on the grade of steel and the ability of heat treating. Heat from the weld will change the steels property as well and cause a difference in coloring in the blueing, but most times it turns out darker so I would say in you case its the wire from the weld.
