Was it brand new or used? If new I would contact Marlin I have a 25MN and have not had a single problem with it.

It's brand new D@D. Almost wish I had spent twice the money and bought another CZ for him.

The poorly machined scope groove is a MAJOR error in manufacturing, and it can only be corrected at the factory.

I recommend strongly that you contact customer service about a return. Tell them about the magazine problem too, and you may get a couple of mags out of the deal.

Thanks NUNN. What do you think about the extraction problem? It really concerns me about Marlin QC. I hear the same things about the "old" Colt and the "new" Colt.

    Thanks

I would send it back or talk with the dealer who sold it to you.

I have not used Marlin's customer service in a few years, but when I did, they were all right.

I needed a trigger group for a M9. It was my fault, having driven a pin out that I shouldn't have and it scattered on me.

They wanted me to return the rifle. I balked at that. No sense sending the whole rifle and paying shipping, when the trigger group was the problem. I finally convinced CS to accept the broken trigger group for repair. They didn't bother to repair it, but sent me a new unit, free of charge.

Thanks NUNN and D@D. I bought the rifle from a large chain retailer here in Pacific NW called GI JOE'S. They made it clear that once the rifel left their building that I was on my own. I learned several important lessons. I'll call Marlin tomorrow and see what they say. I already told my son that if it can't be made to function corectly, I'll use it as a trade in at my FIREARM dealer or ask Marlin for some type of compensation. Everything happens for a reason.
