Z Czech Pistol
I saw a small .25 auto pistol & am thinking about buying it. It's not a CZ & I can't find it listed in any of my books. Marked as follows. Z Made In Czechoslovakia R.6.35mm. It has basket weave grips. The grips are black with a Z inside a circle. Single action only with an internal hammer. Has a 50 stamped into the left side of the frame. It's about the size of a CZ 45 & kind of looks like one. Thanks for the help, Leo.

After the Communists took over Czechoslovakia in 1948, they nationalized the firearms industry.
Your pistol was previously made and sold under the name "DUO", by Frantisek Dusek of Opocno.
After 1948, everything changed and your pistol was sold only with the "Z" markings, for a undeterminate period of time.

Have a CZ1945 and it is the best 25 auto I have ever owned , if you ever get the chance to buy a CZ45 grab it , they are better made than the Seacamp who copied it, but the CZ45 can be field stripped by hand in 2minutes, not so for the Seacamp, and CZ45 hold 8rounds in the clip, no safety as its double action only, just a great pocket backup! 0
