I "heard" the same thing. I have the hk 91 hesse and the ar 15 hesse,,, no problems with either,,,my local shop told me he would NOT TRADE for one because he "heard" at the gun show that the receivers crack. Beats me,,,Mine are fine, would not hesitate to buy another, IMO. nambu

Some time back there was an auction for $50 for a hesse AR15 lower than had broke in the area where the buffer tube screws in, after just a few shoots. Apparently the person had no lucking in getting a hold of anyone at hesse with regards to repair/support etc.

It could be hit or miss, but I know my money wouldn't be spend on anything with that name on it.

If there is an issue with reliability and or customer support I would go with another vendor. This is America and we spend our money where we get the best for the money we are willing to spend. If Hess has an issue with reliability or customer support then this type of action will make them understand and correct the issue. My 2 cents [8D]

hesse is no longer in business. They changed their name to vulcan arms because of the stigma associated with the hesse name. Either name, same junk....

Interestingly enough, I don't believe I even saw them at the last Minnesota Weapons Collectors Association show. Usually see them there with a table full of goods.

My junk still shoots FINE. I have put about 2,000 rounds through the ar 15 clone with only malfunction was with Russian Silver bear ammo. Everything else , it shot fine. HK clone about 400 rounds, no problems. nambu

Yes, I can find a blown up A.H. FOX, Smith 29, Colt 45, Ruger Blackhawk, ect. ect, Doesn't make all of them bad. I speak of what I HAVE OWNED, not by the "experts" that never owned anything but a Marlin #60, and a Raven 25. Have you ever read GUN TESTS? Several issues back, tried the clones out with a "buy" rating for the Hesse. nambu

I guess gun tests lucked out and got a good one too. I never said that Hesse didn't spit out a few good guns, but the majority of the Hesse/Vulcan stuff I have seen (yes, personally looked at) was complete crap. The odds of getting a good one are very slim. I showed evidence of this by linking to several people's complaints about Hesse. I was tempted to pick a Hesse up because of the price, but after inspecting several at a gun show I couldn't find a single example that was satisfactory. Their quality control is nonexistant. Every manufacturer spits out a lemon every once and awhile, but I supported my claim that Hesse makes crap with about 50 other posts on this board and AR15.com. The post started with someone asking about Hesse firearms. If you tell him to buy a Hesse because they are great firearms you are doing him a great disservice as more than likely he will get junk. There is a small chance that he could get lucky, as you did, and get a functional firearm, but there is greater chance that he will get a piece of junk. Likewise if he gets a colt there is a chance he will get a piece of junk, but it is much more likely that he will get a quality firearm. Buying a Hesse is a crap shoot, and not worth the risk when you are spending several hundred dollars.
