New CCW - Need Help Choosing 45ACP Pistol
Moved to a Shall Issue state, and can finally carry.
I shoot 45ACP. Prefer it to other cartridges and shoot it well. I have Sig 220, 1911A1. I really like my Sig 220, but want something lighter/smaller for concealed carry. I would like to stick with 45, but can go with .40S&W if recommended, just stubborn about stocking, reloading, and practicing a new round along with the new gun.
Anyone using the Sig 245 for CCW carry got any advice? I also looked at a Kimber Ultra Compact, but wanted to stay DA if possible. Realistically should I go SA to keep 45, or stick with DA and go 40 (ie. Sig 239)? One of you gurus out there got any advice?

The Kimber Ultra RCP II looks pretty sweet. It's a 2003 Special Edition. Sighting trench in slide. 3" barrel. $1250 list, but I see them for $950
Para has a C6.45 LDA Double action only; VERY sweet. About $700. I have the CCW7 in stainless 7.7" long. Very-well machined.
I'd take the Para Companion Carry-Option, the 3.5" barrel with the bobbed beavertail, then take the sights off.
40S&W is just about my favorite caliber, and the P-239 is very sweet. That Nitron is a good-looking finish, also. About $500.
Have you considered a revolver? The Ruger SP-101 KSP-321XL is a 2.25" barreled 5-shot. Build to last forever, fun to shoot, and really hugs the body well.0 -
If your partial to a compact DA .45 then I`d recommend the
H&K USP Compact [8+1 rnds.] in the #3 variant. The #3 variant has no manual safety and can be carried safely with a round in chamber due to its unique internal safety block between hammer and firing pin.
If the crap hits the fan and the adrenalin kicks in the last thing I would want to have happen is forget about the safety. Just my opinion.0 -
My favorite is a Colt's Defender. Also like the SA V10 Ultra Compact. 0 -
The Taurus Millenium series sell like hotcakes, and they come in .380, 9mm, .40, and .45. Check them out- a good bang for the buck and not nearly as expensive as some others.

My personal favorite is the Para 6.45.Some may
consider it alittle heavy, but the weight makes it
comfortable to shoot. The gun is reliable and accurate

I like the Kimber RHC, but for a light DA there is the Glock 36 to throw into the "consideration pot".
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Smith and Wesson CS-45. IMHO, hands down the best "small" 45 out there. Forget the Kimber for over $900. [:D] CS-45 will set you back around $400. 0 -
I also have a new ParaOrdinance LDA 6.45. Sweet very nice trigger (sort of like DA only without all that takeup). Just got it so haven't been carrying yet. Have had a Kahr PM9 which is great to shoot and very small, light, compact. They now make a PM40 which is only very slightly larger. 0 -
i can agree the .45 is nice, but for ccw i recently picked up a s&w40f the resin frame makes a heck of a weight difference!

I usually carry my 220 or 226.
Picked up a Walther P-99 in 40.
If you are going to change calibers,
this one is not bad in my opinion.
