S&W 65 worth $200?

If the 65's are in good to excellent condition, it would be a great deal. But usually, revolvers sold like these are police trade-ins and are highly worn and show lots of whacks and dings.

If you are looking for a good shooter though, give one a try. I personally prefer the 3" model with a round butt and would be willing to pay the extra $25 for it.

    My humble 2.5-cents worth,

ATF, I received the flyer today in the mail. I only live 50 miles or so from them. Have you signed up for the flyer? There should be a place on their site to sign up to receive their flyer every 2 months. The price I quoted is for non FFL holders, I get an extra $10 off that though being I have FFLs. I probably will go up and pick at least one up and maybe a couple for the shop to sell as well. I figured that they were worth that but have never fooled with the 65s but have owned several 66s and a 586 as well as a 686.

Don't knock police trade ins. Most of them only get shot once or twice a year (maybe 100 rounds total per year). They may have a few dings from open carry but especially in stainless they can be buffed out. $200 is not a bad deal for a 65.

I have decide to pick up one of each, as well as some 30-06 ammo and maybe one of the $215 Walthers! I figure she will call me tomorrow, usually does after I get the flyer but if not I will call her. Those $215 walthers in 32ACP are a bargain as well! Of course FFL holders usually get $10 off that price on all guns and they have also returned to dealer priceing on ammo! They quit that for a while and lost some customers. ATF, I will let you know exactly what the quality is by tuesday night if you want me to on the 65s.

I purchased three from Centerfire about six months ago, they had a special running at $175.00 if you bought three of them. They came in and were in great shape, a little elbow grease and they looked just like new. I would buy more if I had a place for them.

ATF, they are out of 3" and only have the 4" 65s left. I reckon the 3" went pretty fast! 4" is $199! They have a real good deal on Walthers though, ones in excellent condition, 2 extra mags, holster, and all for $249. They do have some with 1 mag and no holster, and at 75% for $214. Were you lucky enough to call in time to get a 3"?

I have seen these in the past and quite often they are Department of Energy trade-ins. They were issued to Nuclear Plant security guards and as such were shot even less than the police trade-ins would have been; I don't think those guys have to qualify as often! I've shot a few of these in the past and like almost any S & W made over the years they are excellent pistols.
