Without a picture, I would say in the $200. A lot would depend on how it was sporterized. A lot of these were done years ago when these rifles were cheap. They have really gone up in the last few years. In 1976, I bought a Remington 03A3 in unfired condition for $150.

"Why someone would take a perfectly good military rifle and alter it into a hunting rifle is beyond me."

It's made a lot of sense. After WWI, they sold for about $6. After WWII, '03s and K98s sold for about $12. They had good strong actions, were well made, cheap, and were a great caliber for hunting.

They were very cheap and very common, and all you had to do was take off the forestock, maybe shape the stock a little (or put on a cheap aftermarket stock) and you had a fine hunting rifle.

If we all had a crystal ball and could predict what common items will be valuable and collectable in the future, we'd all be millioniares, wouldn't we? Or we'd have a backyard full of K-cars and Ramblers, and drawers full of old Bic ballpoint pens..... [:D]

I'd start it at $125. They usually sell for around $150, sometimes go as high as $200.

It would help if you had a muzzle wear measurement, as deer hunters are looking for an accurate rifle.
