knife sharpener question

I have used the lansky sharpener for a long time. I have had real good success with it. Once you get a knife sharp with it, it is real easy and quick to go back and touch it up. It still takes some skill and a good eye to get both sides of the edge evenly sharp. Once you get it sharp on both sides, the next time you sharpen it just keep the strokes the same amount and it becomes fool proof. I would suggest getting the one with the diamond stones. I have good luck with the 25 degree angle. It is a good compromise between sharp and durable. I can get a knife sharper and keep it sharper without taking a lot of metal away. You won't be disapointed.

I use the Lansky to edge a knife that isn't sharp, after that I keep it tuned with an Edgemaker.

    Thanks, Grizztribefans@sssnet.com

I've never used Lansky, although I am sure they are good.

I got one of these Smith's for Christmas and I love it! They come in 6 and 11.5 inches:
