LEO's & others, Speer Gold Dot Question
I have access to a resonable price on the GDHP 115 grain 9mm HP's.
I've been shooting Federal Personal Defense in my carry gun,I'd appreciate an opinion or two.
I'm sold on the CCI Blazers for paper punching, but always throw another 50-rnds down range to stay familiar with the difference. At $12.50 a box, it's a better price, but is the expansion suitable?
Did a search here and only found one related post.
Thanks in advance!

GDHP's are good rounds. My personal experience leads me to view them as having more penetration than many of the others, but the expansion is good and many departments specify them.
I believe they are a good carry compromise in duty situations as they give penetration and expansion which some of the others don't do as well.
You need to remember that an officer needs a round that is effective in different shooting situations because of the diversity of their possible encounters compared to general civilian situations.

Gold Dots have always been among my favorites. The design of the bullet is such that it offers good expansion over a broader range of velocities than most. Also, short of match ammo, it seems to shoot more accurately with less flyers out of most of my guns.

Unfortunately I have seen what Federal Hydra-Shok does to the human body, and I have also seen what Gold Dot does. Gold Dot does far more tissue damage and the bullet retains almost all of its weight. I think that they are both equally accurate. 0 -
Thanks fellas, just what I wanted to hear. 0
