Need help in choosing a 9mm pistol

This is a wide open chance to get shot down. There are so many good choices out there and so many frame sizes and options, it's hard to
recommend just one over others. Some depends on what you intend for use....ccw, plinking, target, ect. It also would be good to find a shop with a range and a few rental guns (some places do have try guns if you buy their ammo) and actually shoot what you are interested in.
It would be hard to go wrong on the SIG for quality, ect. but the playing field has really expanded the last few years.

SIG mfg. top quality guns and if your influenced by the "cool look" factor your buying for all the wrong reasons. Take function over form, especially if your contemplating CCW.

Next, you are the only one that can decide what feels good to you. The best pistol made may not fit your hand as well as the 3rd best pistol made. As long as they are from a quality mfg. there is really no big deal.

Comfort aids confidence and confidence enhances profeciency.

Try different makes and models, and the suggestion about ranges w/ rentals or demos is right on. Don't set unrealistic objectives, such as buying a gun in a week unless your prepared to go through a lot of potentially expensive learning curve as a new gun is a used gun the minute you walk out of the shop and the price drops accordingly, and with used guns never expect to get what you paid for it in trade on another unless you got one heck of a bargain.

Just some thoughts here ... take your time, learn what you like.

Contender was right on target. I own a couple Sigs and think they are the greatest auto made, but they may not be for you. Sig, Glock and HK come to the top of my mind when you're considering a 9mm.

Never argue with an idiot...They will drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!

The sig would be a great choice, maybe get the 229 if you want something a little smaller for concealed carry. If I were buying a 9mm i would probably get a browning hi-power or sig.

Walther P99 Military. My SIG P226 has been a safe queen since I bought the Walther. Shoots great and fits my hand better than the SIG.

My fellow members have very good suggestions. They also have a heck of a lot more money than I! I have a number of 9mm pistols. My Ruger KP-89 is, for the money, a fine piece. Someday I'll get that Sig or H&K!

The HK 2000 or the HK P7M8.

Also, as already stated, check out the Browning High Power.
