I have a gun that is made by Target. It is a .22 cal. revolver 9 shot with an octagon barrel. Does anyone know what year it was made in and how much it is worth?

Welcome to the forum Dee Dee,
Do you mean the manufacturer was Target or is that were it was sold?
I've never heard of a Target Brand revolver.

dgrindle, cant help you here sorry to say, but checked out you profile and every thing you ask so far has been a stumper as far as as i can see. and by the amount of replies they have received , and as far as the answers everybody else has given you, thy've been stumped to. at least i could'nt answer them, nor has anybody else been able to, that means that i/we have to put on our thinking caps to dig way deap to get to the vintinge of the questions as that you have on you vin. gun . i want to welcome you to this forum and i hope that i can help you in the future. but to this date i cant see where you've been helped thoughs far , but sick in there and i/we/someone, will be able to help you! until then, if you dont find the answer here, you might be best to ask a gunsmith the questiion!!! good luck to you Edward

it's not the type of gun you have in the heat of a battle that counts, only if you have enough ammo for it, lets face it, a gun without ammo is only as good as a base ball bat!!

Give all the markings, esp the "proof" marks (discribe them the best you can, anyway)

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

If you give us the proper information, we may be able to identify it for you.

    Break open or solid frame?

    Barrel length?

Round butt or square butt grips?

ALL of the writing, numbers, and marks on the gun, exactly as they appear, and where they appear.

Would you perhaps be referring to an immage displayed on the grip of your revolver?

There are a lot of very knowledgable folks here that are happy to help people out, but you need to help us, help you.

Your posts are generally very limited in information, and so far have been about older firearms, including "Hardware" guns that were often made by more than one mfg. for a particular retailer.

Knowing the area around Salem the country should be rich with "farm" or "working man's" guns. Which for the most part were well made but low cost. Nothing fancy. And it sounds like you may have come into a cache of older firearms from a relative or a farm auction, or ???

Anyway, if you want the best possible help you have to give specific information, and with the prices of digital cameras being what they are today you can get one that permits reasonable quality pictures for a pretty low price. In fact if you don't own one already you probably have one or more firends that do so you could, at least initially, borrow one. So with a digital camera and a very small amount of practice you can take "photos" of the gun you need info. on and that will help considerably. If you don't have a means of posting your digital images and/or you don't want to get into it to that level of detail ... you can contact me via email by clicking on the mail icon button at the top of this reply and I will provide you with my direct email so that you can send me the image files and I will then post them for you. And I'm sure there are others that would help you the same way as posting images to most forums is a little involved.

Now back to your 22 revolver ... look it over carefully and let us know what markings you find then maybe we can be of more help.
