which do I keep
Okay fellas I need some advice. I have a slick Savage 110 in 7mm-08 that is a dandy little deer rifle. I also traded for a really nice winchester model 100 in .308. I would rate the winchester at 90% plus and it was made in 1964. Wife says one must go and I'm torn. I used the 7mm-08 this season and took a nice deer at about 140yards. Dropped like wet cement. Help me here I told her I would go here for some advice. As always thanks for your replies

when is you wife moving out?
it's not the type of gun you have in the heat of a battle that counts, only if you have enough ammo for it, lets face it, a gun without ammo is only as good as a base ball bat!!0 -
How often do you use the rifle/rifles? Have you shot the .308? Which one makes you all warm and fuzzy inside? [8D]

my remembering aint what it used to be but I do remember something about a recall on winchester 100's. might want to check with them before any decisions

Have to agree with GAO. Which do you fet the most satisfaction from? The 308 will tear a little bigger wound channel and it is more reasonable to buy as abvailability is better. The 7-08 is an excellent round but so is the 308; both flexible and pretty hard hitting! For an all around rifle I would stick with the 308 primarily because of the cheap and plentiful ammo factor. Also I give the Winchester a slight edge in terms of future collectability. Good luck with this tough decision and enjoy your time on the couch!

I always hate to see posts like this, because it indicates a lack in the relationship, unless there are extenuating factors. I wonder if you could keep both if you and your wife talked it over and understood each other better. Why does she feel the need to put that limit on you, exercise that control? If it's financially necessary, I understand, but if you can afford it, what's wrong? How many pairs of shoes does she have? How many purses? Do you limit her on shoes and purses? If I start an argument, I apologize in advance, but I just feel husbands and wives could manage to be nicer to each other sometimes, and set these kinds of limits just to be controlling. Sorry if I'm wrong.

I agree with what Oldgunner said.
If it is a money thing I'd keep the Winchester personally, provided its accurate and 100 percent functional .
I've always followed my father's advice: he told me, first to always keep my word and, second, to never insult anybody unintentionally. If I insult you, you can be damn sure I intend to. And, third, he told me not to go around looking for trouble.

Sight unseen and never fired either one, I'd keep the Winchester as the better investment and ammo availability itshtf. However, I generally don't part with guns I use to hunt.
I strongly encourage you to look at communications with your wife and open up a dialogue somehow. Read Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus together, see a couples counselor, use a couples forum online, but do something to stall 'til she forgets about wanting you to sell the gun.

Keep them both unless you need the money. - Toe 0 -
Hello, if one must go, find a new wife. I hear there are wives out there who actually buy guns for their husbands. Few and far between though. Hopefully, I just found one.

If you have to play her game, I understand. why not trade them both in for one new gun. Or, sell one and use the money for a high dollar scope. If she insists you can only have one, and she will make your life miserable if you don't have 'just one', it's time to make lemonade. Do I hear "custom shop"???? oh yeah, this could be fun.[:D] 0
