    Request for appraisal:

I have a Browning Light Twelve made in Belgium Serial 297699. On the barrel it says: special steel - 12 gauge - shells 2 3/4". The receiver has a lot of engraving.

Condition: I would judge it to be good.
Problems: The front bead sight is missing, The forearm has a crack 2" long from the base and has a very small piece of wood missing. Except for one small mark, all cross hatching is in perfect condition. The stock has several small indentions where it was bumped. The barrel is bright inside for end 2/3 but has longitudal marks in the beginning 1/3 which I believe to be light rust. The gun is in excellent working condition

The gun was purchased new and used for hunting by a friend who died approximately 1975.

Can anyone tell me the age and approximate value. Thanks.

Value is regional. You roughly described condition, but you forgot to mention options. Raised rib? Vented rib? Plain barrel? Standard wood?

Just a general guide to a shooter... $450.00 for a well worn gun in good mechanical condition. Add $200.00 for a gun in just a bit less than 90% condition. Add another $200.00 for a really nice gun with a vent rib.

Just as a side note, it was made in 1967. I agree with Nord's value estimates.
