    Hello woody399...

Are you perhaps referring to a Model 12 with a 30" nickel steel barrel, and a 3" chamber[?] If so, that is a tough find. I believe that winchester stopped using the nickel steel barrels just about the same time they introduced the 3" 12 gauge chamber (I guess I will have to look it up later this evening... or, hopefully one of the other Winchester gurus will confirm it for me).

Woody: The Md 12 Duck gun came out in 1935. Winchester stopped using Nickel Steel barrels in late 1931, buy the end of 1932, the supply in the warehouse had been consumed. No such animal as a Duck gun with a Nickel Steel barrel. They are all stamped Winchester Proof Steel. they came in 30in or 32in Full choke only. In 35 years of buying, selling and looking, I've only seen one Duck gun that wasn't a full choke, it was the "Trap" version that Winchester came out with, and was marked Trap on the receiver extension, it was a special order gun from the late 40s. Shortly after the Duck gun came out Winchester said they could rework any existing Md 12 to handle the 3 in shell. So when you are looking at Duck guns, they are all stamped with "For Super Speed and Super X 3 in. shells". so if you run across a Md 12 that says 3 in. only it was a conversion. Regards Dave
