Boy Scout rifle
I was in the Boy Scouts in RI at Camp Yawgoog in the 1970s and remember using their .22 LR bolt action single shot target rifles at the 50 ft outdoor range. In fact, many days I would repeatedly shoot then go to the back of line and shoot again and again all day long! Can anyone tell me for sure, or make a good guess, what make and model rifle this would have been?

just about any body who made a single shot 22 rimfire rifle at one time or another advertizied a boy scout model. being a former ranger master of a camp in texas i can tell you your rifle could have been any of them from the best target sighted to the cheapest manual cocking. the purchase of rifles for use in a boy scout summer camp usually comes down to the range master, camp director and last money.
the last time i was at camp strake out side of houston texas (as a visitor) they were using marlins model 101's and h&r 20 gauge model 058.
one last thing the rifle range and target shooting at boy scout camps was more important in the 1950's and 1960's. its been on a down hill slide every since the middle 1970's. we really need to do something about it.
at the present i spend my summers teaching basic marksmanship skills and safety to cub scout age boys (ages 6-10)using daisy model 845 airguns. a lot of cub scouts are denied the pleasure of learning to shoot because of the lack of someone willing to spend the time to teach them. every one who is a shooter on this fourm should check with their local boy scout and girl scout councils to see if they need any help.
