Mauser Scope base
Is anyone familiar with a mauser scope mount that is offset to the left of the receiver. I've seen these years back but have not had any luck in finding one recently.

Are you asking about the old style issue sniper style for the stock rifles or for sporter/custom styles? If for sniper WWII style, good luck. If for custom; why? They are relatively bulky, heavy and in my opinion, ugly. 0 -
It sounds like you're referring to the Griffen & Howe style side mount. The base portion gets screwed into the left wall of the receiver while the moveable base and rings get attached to the scope. The moveable base slides onto the fixed base via a dovetail and stays in place with either one or two threaded fasteners.
If this sounds correct, I'll see what I can locate. They used to be fairly expensive so I started making my own but even then it was costly.

The Griffin & Howe may be the one I remember, It has been a long time since I've seen one like it on a Mauser. I find it akward to load unless you use a mount with a higher clerance.
I have a weaver mount on another rifle that is offset by 1/2 in and is both easier to load and I find it more comfortable to shoot.
At least I can start a search for the G&H base.
Thanks
