winchester model 12

Chevyman Tx
Looking for a model 12 in 20ga. or 12ga. made in 1953. What ser. # range would I be looking for?

    Anyone familiar with Model 12:

    What does the "w" signify below the serial number on some Models 12.

    It appears under the serial number, just at the edge of the magazine chamber.

    Have seen this on a very few, but do not know what it refers to.

    With all do respect to 22WRF, The Md 12 32" barrel was only availble in 12 ga. The longest barrel for 16 & 20 ga. guns was 30 in. The last year the 30" barrel was marketed for the 16&20 ga. was 1950. And it was only available in plain, or solid rib. My reference: Riffles book on the Md 12 and Maddis' book on the Md 12.     Question for Dave and Bob... are you fellows going to be at the April Big Reno show? I will be there for the entire 3-days (a good friend of mine has a table rented for this show, and I will be helping him out when my feet get too tired of hoofing it around all day[;)]). I would like to hook-up with both of you if you are planning to attend.
