walther p99

I just went shooting pistols for the first time with a friend the other day. He had a Romanian knockoff of a Walther ppk that I fell in love with and was shooting dead on. I went looking for one on this web site and came across the Walther p99. How does this gun compare? Is it good for self defence and general shooting?

    Anybody had any experence? I think I`m falling in love with one in 9mm, but before I part with that kind of money, I`d like to here good things about it from someone who knows!

    I don't think you are going to see any appreciable difference in accuracy between the 9 or 40 in the P99. That being said, remember the P99 (S&W or Walther) was designed as a service/duty weapon not as a bullseye target gun. I find the more contoured slide of the S&W to be more pleasing than the squared slide of the Walther. Same gun just a different contoured slide.

    I do remember seeing in a magazine that the import walther was more accurate than the one produced by Smith and Wesson
