FAL experts...
without any pics, what can you tell me about this FAL...sound any good?
"Hi, I have an IAI M-444 FAL (no longer made, but a very nice rifle) that I would be willing to trade. It has new furniture, as these all had used furniture on them when shipped. If you don't know about the M-444, they were built on Imbel recievers (top of the line behind DSA), and used Imbel parts, besides the ones necassary to make it legal in the US. I recently bought a DSA, so this one has been gathering dust. Very low round count, immaculate shape, and would come with the Tapco flat top dust cover (will include original dust cover if you want it). I also currently have a Bushnell 3200 3X9 on it, that I could include, depending on our negotiations. I don't have pic capablities, but I would offer a 3 day inspection guarentee."
the above was offered for a trade with my Desert Eagle , I also got this offer from another person:
"I happen to have an extreme lightweight FAL which is also unique.
I bought this about two years ago from a guy who races sailboats.
Imbel receiver, custom made CARBON FIBER stock and pistol grip. aluminum 20 round magazine. aluminum DSA receiver(this is the receiver which is not the FFL part(that part in imbel)) 16in barrel with muzzle break(hole on the sides), I currently have a railed cover and a OKO red dot mounted.
I have run about 400 rounds through it and it has never malfunctioned. I just don't shoot it much because for off-hand I mainly use my AR(s). I also have a STG58a which I like to shoot from the bipod on the ground"
problem is though(for me) one is in Washington and the other I think is in Wisconsin, I am hesitant to buy a used rifle without checking it over.

The M444's were really good rifles for the money. The stock and finish sometimes aren't the best, but function always seemed to be. They are a $600-700 rifle on a good day. The other rifle you describe sounds like somebodies personal creation, as I have never seen Carbon fiber stocks... Hard to put a value on it without knowing what is in it. A reciever is $200, a good parts kit is $200, at least $100 in compliance parts, and what ever other goodies are in it.
So what is the question?
