It appears that in today's climate that if I want to pick up some 9mm plinking ammo that I'm going to have no alternative other than some import brands I'm not particulary familiar with. Anyone have experience with Wolf, Silver Bear, or S&B and which is the preferable brand since they all seem to be priced reasonably close? 0 -
First let me welcome you to GB. The 1400 FPS is obtainable in a 9mm. Light weight bullet and good powder mix. The 1400 Ft Lbs Of energy I doubt. I have not seen this ammo but I really do not beleive the ft lbs of energy story. My 2 cents [8D]

Yeah I have some but mine is Austrian not Austrailian. I don't know the specs other than 124 gr fmj bullet. I think velocity is supposed to be stock + 20%?. All I know is that my P85 likes it.

That would have to be SOME type of 9mm to get that many lbs of knock down. That is like a .357 magnum or small caliber rifle number. maybe they meant 400lbs of knock down.

Energy is calculated by multiplying the mass of the bullet times the square of the velocity and dividing the result by 450400.
So for a 124gr bullet moving at 1400fps the muzzle energy would be approx. 540 ft. lbs.
1400 ft. lbs. of muzzle energy would be roughly 2,255fps of velocity with a 124gr bullet. So it is not very likely.
If you were reading spec. what you saw is a mis-print or someone is trying to "BS" buyers. If you heard this in a conversation I think the person you were talking with either mis-spoke or was trying to "BS" you.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
