I have heard this about other mags but it is my understanding they will not function properly as the 9mm is smaller and would require some tweeking of the feedlips and still not 100% function. I personally have not tried it. There are enough hi cap mags for the p89 available so it wouldnt be worth it to me. I have one of these ramline mags and it functions flawlessly http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=16940257

L_N_L, they will work. I have used them in my P85, P89, and P95 9mms.
They function 100% in the P95 having put more than 500 rds through without a problem using various P944 mags both Ruger and aftermarket. For some reason with the P85 and P89 some of the P944 mags work 100% and others, the aftermarkets, need tweeking a little.

Bottom line is if you are going to mis-match mags for your carry or home defense weapons you are gambling with your life[:0]. The .40 cal mags were designed for the .40 cal pistols and the 9mm mags were designed for the 9mm pistols. However, if you are just target shooting or in a pinch for resources in a bug-out situation it's good to know you can use the P944 mags in the 9mm P series pistols.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

The feed lips are different widths and I believe the followers are different too.

As already noted, for "practice" it's probably fine (I actually have not tried it), but I wouldn't be keeping it for "defense." Spend the extra $30 and buy a factory high-capacity magazine--or wait till September when (hopefully, if the ban is allowed to expire) you can buy a new 15-round mag. for the price of the 10-round today!

don't know if this will help or not but I have 2 9mm mags that i use in my PC4, we changed the followers out to the ones that would be in a 40 mag and they work fine

I was just wondering cause here in the Peepolz Repuclik of Kalifornia you can't get hi-cap mags. But what can you do (besides move). I just broke down and bought a couple 9mm mags...

L_N_L: Where do you live? I used to work for the People's Republic of Palo Alto, perhaps the most leftwing, effeminate, Dr. Phil new age city in America. Everyone thinks Bezerkeley is the most commie-town out there...it ain't.
