Desert Eagle Mark XIX
What's the easiest way to tell a Mark XIX from a Mark VII or Mark I just by looking at it? I saw one today at a gun show, but I couldn't find any markings denoting the series. If and when I get one, I'd like to get a XIX so I can swap calibers by just getting a new bbl and/or bolt instead of a whole new top end.

There are subtle differences, check out this magnumresearch link for more info (it will give you ALL the info you need): http://magnumresearch.com/docs/Distinction_between_the_Mar.doc
I think one of the easily identifiable markings is the ring slots on the barrel as well as the 7/8" dovetail instead of 3/8" (the .50 AE VXII has it too however).
You've obviously done your homework on what you want. [:)]0 -
In addition to the rib that bambihunter pointed out, the safety on the mark xix and mark vii is a bit different than that on the mark vi. if you find a picture you will see that the mark vii/xix safety has a claw (or hook) on it whereas the mark vi safety is just a straight piece.
I hope you find the pistol you are looking for. There is nothing quite like a DE.0
