.45 LC reloading
what is the difference between the .451 and the .452 bullet. Does this effect the pre formance. Does on have higher velocity because of a tighter fit. This is to be used in a contender .45 lc/.410 10 inches w/ the choke 8 other wise. What is the best load for this

A .451 or .452 bullet is for .45 ACP. .45 Colt should be using a .454 bullet. 0 -
In a Contender the .451-.452 dia. bullet is used, and I believe the same is true for the Ruger Blackhawk, but I'm sticking to the Contender side in this reply.
Older Colts offer some challenges in determining the best diameter bullet, but the standard loading dies are intended to size cases for the .454 dia. bullet. But this is a whole different topic.
The Contender "complete Reloading Manual" published by Loadbooks USA is recommended if your going to get into Contender Re-Loading.
As for accuracy, in a 45/410 barrel expect 3-3 1/2+ inch groups because the bullet first makes a jump of approx. 1 1/2" before it encounters rifling and then has only about 5 inches of rifling to stabalize the bullet. If better accuracy is desired get youself a barrel chambered for only the 45 Colt.
To reply to the part of your question dealing with the difference between .451 and .452 the 1/1000 difference can improve accuracy because of a better bullet to bore fit. Sierra offers a "tweener" bullet at .4515. Bullets that are larger than the bore increase pressures so you need to use the diameters specified for your handgun.
Also, DO NOT fire Contender loads in revolvers, especially the SA's and the New Service/New Army DA's or clones.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -

I dont know about the contender, My Ruger blk hawk 45 LC likes .454 dia. bullets. I'm talking Lead cast bullets. I dont know any thing about those new copper bullets. 0
