For the money you cant beat the NEF single shot. And they are accurate. The savages also deserve a serious look. I have seen the savages consistantly outshoot the very expensive ruger ss/laminate.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Only some have film.

Ruger. Mine will shoot less than 1/2" groups as long as I don't heat up the barrel.

i just bought a savage model 93 stainless last week and i love it got a simmons 3x9 scope on it and all the paper work for about $300. it gets 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards and thats with me shooting it you could probably do better with a little practice. good luck whatever you buy TIM

Decide wheather you want a single shot, bolt action or semi-auto then hit the shops around you to try the different makes, then buy the one that feels best to you.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! for all your input. I'm going shopping for my new gun now, with my information I have collected. I do know that Hornaday has the patent on the shells that's why they're so expensive, but I sure think it'll be worth it. This is GREAT!!!!!!!!!........B.B.[8D][:)]

Marlin 17VS. Great buy. You will probably need scope rings if you use a 40mm scope and if will probably want to consider a trigger job after a bit. Other than that you are good to go. You should find one for about $330. Nice looking rifle I think.

Worry is the interest humans pay on the debt of miscalculation.<BR>

Hands down.. the Savage 93, heavy barrel, w/weaver-style scope bases on the receiver. VERY accurate set-up. Savage has great barrels and this particular scope set-up is very stable for an inexpensive rimfire that normally have grooved receivers.
