Competitor Corp Pistol

I've been offered a Competitor pistol from Competitor Corp. It is in great shape with 30-30 barrel and 223 caliber barrel. There is such limited info on the item and I've never heard anything about it. I believe it to be a good deal and would like to purchase it. Any info and value would be most welcomed.

    Company estabished 1988. Operated from 1988-95 in West Groton, MA then until 2001 in New Ipswich, NH. Present location is Jaffrey,NH

    MSRP $460 and in As New (100%) condition the book is $395

    Laminated wood stock/grip add $20
    Walnut stock/grip add $50
    Electroless Nickle finish add $60
    Extra barrels run from $175 to $240 and a muzzle break adds $60

    Me ... unless this is a VERY good buy I'd go with a T/C Original Contender or their new G2 Contender. Frames run around $200 and barrels run from roughly $125 - $225+ Check out the offerings here on GB to get a better idea of things.

    It has been offered at 350 with 30-30 and 223 barrels and leupold scope to boot for $350.

    The it sounds like a good deal providing all is in good shape. Used Leupold scopes (regardless of magnification) run at least $150-175+ and they have a lifetime warranty. So being conservative we'll say $100 on the scope and $250 for the pistol w/ 2 barrels.

    However there is a "but" and that is; but remember there is a limited market for these "boomers" so don't look for a quick sale if and when you decide to sell it.

    Hands down the Competitor is a better pistol. The handleing characteristics i.e. felt recoil, grip angle,target aquisition, system rigidity,target re-aquisition are far superior to the contender. The pistol never moves off the rest durring reloading and no accesories are needed to make the pistol better, off the shelf a sub MOA gun.
    The trigger is like velvet and the whole pistol has a life time warrenty! Big Al and Richard are honest, responsive and true charactures! I would deal with them anyday over TC. Just my 2cents!
