I wanted to upgrade my hearing protection and was looking at the peltor electronic earmuffs, primairly the #6 and #7, with the audio enhancment. In my research, I see they also have some tac options with radio attachments. The #6 is 75-85$, the #7 are 125-135$, the tac models start around 250$

Has anyone used these hearing protectors, and how do they rate? What is the difference between the 6 and 7? Will the Tac work with the motorola GMRS radios?

    Thanks Rusty

I like the electronic muffs sold by Dillon. They have a battery powered amplifier for each ear, & circuitry that allows normal conversation but cuts off sudden, loud noises.

They still make those. They are about $8/pair. I think they are made by Silinco (sp?). I can get them at a sporting goods store called Academy here in Texas. I don't know that I've seen them elsewhere, but I probably haven't looked either. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the input.

I was bumping around the internet and it looks like the electronic muffs have stolen the show. It does seem like that concept would work better.

I always hated wearing muffs in the past when I needed to hear speech or while hunting. Looks like a good solution...so I don't go deaf!

Spelling is Silencio and try: www.cheaperthandirt.com as I think the earplugs your talking about are listed there.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

I too have a hearing problem. With hearing protection on, I have a hard time hearing the line officials. [Not a good thing at Perry.] OI bought a set of the electronic muffs from Cabellas, and I really like them. Shuts down the sharp report, and yet lets me hear conversation.
