winchester model 88 S/N
What does the A of H prefix mean on a winchester model 88 serial number? Example (H240xxx)

H prefix means it was made from 1969 on H240xxx would be a rifle made in 1970. From the Standard Catalog of Winchester. Doesn't mention an A prefix 0 -
The A might indicate a carbine if if has the 19" barrel, but, that is just a guess. 0 -
They show an A prefix for the model 100 not the 88.
