[/font=Century It's a little hard to go wrong with a K-98 action in my book...P.P. Mauser got the whole thing right with that one! Imensely strong and pretty well soldier/idiot proof! I have a Mitchell Mausers unissued (when I got it at least) that I bought in the first few weeks they were in the country some years ago. It was not as pretty as I had hoped but it was all milled and numbers matching with a really nice bore; I paid too much but was very anxious to get one and have not been dissappointed with the performance. Had a beautiful bayonet and nice accessory kit with it that adds some sense of history. I wanted to scope but not D&T the thing so I bought a scout mount ( replaces rear sight ) and but an inexpensive BSA pistol scope on it. It took it from about 3 to 4 inches at 100 yds. to a true one inch gun for a total of 60 dollars; can't beat that with a stick! One thing you would have to buy to make it more shootable is a leather cheek pad to make up for the higher sight line; helped me a lot! Every one of these I've shot over the years has been up to snuff so consequently I feel they are pretty good! Unlike a lot of other military imports I've seen I have not heard much in the way of complaints about headspacing problems etc... Have fun and enjoy the Yugo!

the reason i love my 98 is the endless supply of aftermarket accesories for it. ill try to post a picture of my 30-06 98 with glossy monte carlo stock, front to back safety, timney trigger, and jeweled bolt, turned down bolt. theres a lot you can do to these things, and you would never guess that they started life as a military mauser.

I bought a Mitchell when they first came available and took a thumping from the crowd for overpaying. I've not regretted the purchase. So far as function - flawless. I could happily spend an afternoon just working the bolt on that rifle. Cheap surplus ammo in abundance. Will have to try the scope suggestion mentioned above. My old eyes and those tiny sights are not a good match.
