ammo for desert eagle

Is it ok to use any factory loaded ammo in a .44 magnum Desert Eagle as long as the gun is in good condition. I know you can't use Garrett or Buffalo Bore in them is there any other ammo you can't use?

    Ammo must be jacketed. No lead bullets

    Yeah, what he said... And, the reasoning behind this is that the slide slams forward with such force it'll actually flatten all lead bullets enough they won't fit into the chamber (I tried it) and can also foul the gas ports.

    YEA WHAT THEY SAID!! Using lead bullets will clog up the gas system and cause lots of headaches.[xx(]

    I haven't had any experience with this type of weapon or load and i find the responses interesting as most weapons will produce the best reliability results with lead as it doesnt scratch or destroy modern firearms however it is very smokey. Interesting that a deagle doesn't cope with lead. O well...you should just get a .50 to rape the folks you try to get.

    HK's, pull the slide back on one and you can see how much force it takes to work the action, it isn't hard to see how it could deform the lead.

    Also, few pistols are gas operated like the Desert Eagle.

    This 'no lead' also applies to the HK P7 series of pistols as they are also gas operated. If you look down the barrel, just in front of the chamber, you will see a small hole for porting the gas.

    Not only that, lead at magnum velocities will seriously foul the barrel.

    you could also try a "real" 44 like a smith 29 and shoot as much lead as you want for half the $$[:D][;)]

    Actually, the HK P7 is not gas-operated, it is blowback operated with a gas delay system. The piston resists cycling rather than assists it[:)] "No lead" idea still applies though[;)]

    any hexagonal rifled barrel no matter gas operated or not, does not like nor is it recomended to use lead bullets.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
