Tall order, and you will no doubt get a lot of candidates based on differening experience. Even those rifle with a reputation for accuracy do not always live up to the rep. Good candidates- Savage: overall probably the best rep for oob accuracy of any manufacturer. My own personal choice would be Tikka T-3.

Here is one that will leave you some money for a scope fund.

The Tikka guarantees out of the box 1" groups at a 100 yds. I like that or the 700 Remington in your price range. Savage would be my Number 3.

God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?

CZ has a good rep, and they come with a test target so you can get a feel for the individual rifle.
Is that $650 max a total package figgure? I ask because the rifle is no more accurate than the scope thats on it, with decent scopes going from $300-600 plus mounts&rings (another $50-250) 1/2 your budget is gone.
This is probably the best time of the year to be shopping for a used rifle (localy so you can test before buying, or via the 'net for best pricing).

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

    The answer is Tikka.
Guaranteed 1"MOA and excellent fit and finish.
Best rifle in that price range.
I just happen to have a 300WSM T3 in wood/blued that I was selling to someone and the deal may be falling thru.
It has a Burris 3X9X40 Fullfield II scope.
    All new in Oct.
    Perfect condition.
This is not an ad, but if you're interested, it would be in your price range.
    Let me know.

    TIKKA made by SAKO

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

The $650 is the budget for the rifle. I will spend probably around $700 or so on a high quality scope, rings, and mount.

I am looking for the most accurate gun out of the box. My budget is $650 max. I will be buying a .270 or .300 WSM for a Elk and Mule Deer hunting trip to Colorado this year. Your knowlege would be appreciated.

I think if you'd decide to go w/a .308 then you'd just love the Steyr Heavy Barrel SBS Pro Hunter. I don't think I have ever seen a factory gun handle the accuracy that the Steyr puts out.

The heavy barreled remington 700's are by far the most accurate out of the box rifles made. Now,..if you are going to be carrying this rifle up and down mountain slopes,..then that is out of the question. At this point I would say that the Sako or the Howa 1500 series would be the rifle for you. being as the SAKO line is HIGH,..the Tikka (made by sako,..and both made by beretta now days) would be the choice. But given a choice with money left for a scope and some adjustments,..the Howa 1500 would be my pick.

This is all considering you don't have access to a remington 700 which has proven to be a tight shooter with a factory barrel and ammo.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
    Got Balistics?
