    There was also a 9mm shotgun for the European market. If memory serves (and it seldom does) they made it a 9mm X 2.5" (whatever that is in metric).

    I have some old paper shotshells and three plastic 12 ga. marked 'experimental' with steel shot. I have two Western and a Peters 10 ga. paper and an unusual .410 paper marked .410-12 mm that is 1.93 inches long. The most unusual is a paper rim-fire shot shell that is .318 inches in diameter and 1.9 inches long. It has a W headstamp and no other markings. If you are interested in them I can send you a picture through email. I also have some other paper shells that are somewhat common. I have no boxes....

    dannej, the odd .318 diameter is a 9mm Winchester rimfire loaded for the M36 shotgun. Your .410/12mm is a European (or made for European sale) round. The Europeans do designate some shotshells in metric dimensions.

    ================

    In addition to those already posted I am aware of the following (rough, recent auction / catalog pricing follows); most of these are not "commercially available," but they exist. You should be able to find the 36, 14 and 12/14 without much trauma.

    .58 Winchester ($40 for a fired case)

    36ga ($10 for a NPE or fired case)

    22ga ($200+ for NPE - Remington experimental)

    18ga ($10 -> for NPE . . . prices all over lot)

    14ga ($15 for fired brass case, more depending on condition & type)

    12/14ga Greener police ($10)

    11ga (UMC patent ignition type, > $100 for fc)

    6ga (although usually seen as a African loading with RB . . . $ ?? but high)

    4ga (both punt gun and African . . . prices vary enormously: $7 for relatively recent European NPE to $100+)

    3ga Punt gun ($40 - $80 for a NPE)

    1.5" punt gun ($40 & up for NPE)

    There may well be some more obscure punt gun loadings of which I'm not aware. There are brass cases, plated brass cases, patent ignition systems, aluminum cases, unusual headstamps, paper tube colors and other factors which impact value in addition to issues of gauge and condition. I don't collect them myself (except for US martial loadings), but there is an incredible variety of loadings and larger collections will have thousands of specimens.
