hi
i have a colt #2980xx-c that appears to be unfired in the box but no paper work.the mag has no markings,is this correct to the pistol?what might be the approx value?

  Yes, Colt did not mark their mags BUT on commercial guns I think They were? (I collect USGI guns)
  If it is 99% in the box, it could be worth up to 3000.00!
  
  I measured it and cut it twice, and it's still too short!

  You commercial Colt 1911 in that serial number range was made in 1965. A magazine without markings would likely be correct.
