Old AR-15
I am trying to determne the value of an old AR. It is at least 20 years old (thats how long my P.D. has had it) and it has no forward assist. It is a colt AR-15 with triangle forearm. Any ideas, or is this not enough info?

If it is in average shape and just a Colt AR15 SP1, probably 1000-1250. Just my opinion. The lower could be 1000.00 by itself if it is in excellent condition. Prices vary depending on condition, whether it has a box/docs or not, and if it was a very early serial number.

I just got back from an auction tonite, and they had an SP-1, which is what you described, come across the block. They got a high bid of $750.00, and the seller said "no sale'. He was wanting 1500.00 for it. I bought one a couple of years ago for 1000.00, and was glad to get it for that. Going rate seems to be 1250.00 to 1500.00. I copied a list of serial numbers off this site recently that gives the date of production. If you're interested in an exact date, e-mail me. 0 -
That does have some collector value, if you find the right person.
did they come with any special markings on the receiver?
