I was also in the market for an AR. Ive decided to get a Bushmaster and will order it this weekend. From what I hear olympics are good mil-spec weapons but they just dont have the fit an function of a Bushmaster. Rattling parts etc. I dont think they have the chrome lined reciever or bore like the Bushmaster(may be wrong). You can get a nib Bushmaster for $850. I would choose Bushmaster over Colt at this time. Good luck with your decision.

I have looked at Olympic because they make one in 10mm (my favorite cartridge). I finally opted against it and instead will most likely use a carbine conversion unit (CCU) in my old Glock 20 frame.
I didn't really find much negative about them, but most people praise the Bush's higher.

I like the Oly's, good guns. The fit, finish, and function on all the ones I've had is good and makes them worth the money. You can find them at a lower price than you mention, and if you opt for the plinker, I've seen them for under $600. Most opinions favor the Bushmaster, and if you want a collector, get the Colt. I've never had the Bushmaster, and I can't keep a Colt because someone always wants to give me more money for it than I paid. When I resell an Oly, I usually just get my money back.

I have had great luck with Olympic Arms, their stuff is very high quality and comes with a Lifetime Warrenty. I would avoid the plinker model however because its fit and finish is a bit rough. Any of their PCR models are very nice and worth every penny. They also offer stainless barrels that are blackend (oxide finish) which gives the customer a tatical look with stainless accuracy and duribility.

Oly's have chrome lined bores. I'd stay away from the plinker model also, because it has a cast upper and lower receiver, whereas the pcr's are forged. Bushmaster doesn't have any better quality than Oly, but their final fit may be better. Oly's are usually less money than Bushmasters, but their warranty is sound. I have no problems with the forged Oly's. Guess it depends on what you want it for, likewise, do you need the caddy or will the chevy work for you.....

Just my $.02 but due to inflation, it may rise to $.03...

Per oly's web-site they do not chrome lined bores. I think they offer it as an option, but it's not a standard feature.

I have an forged PCR 99Oly with a 16" stainless barrel that someone put together from a kit and sold unused. It cost me about $725 in about 2000.
There are no quality problems and it shoots great. I'd recommend it, especially with the SS barrel.
