I have a combo 30-30 and 20 ga that I purchased about 12 years ago. That was just before H&R went out of business. I don't know if New England Arms or the new version of H&R has made them.

I think the 30-30 is still available as a Handi-rifle from NEF. Used ones go for around $175. here, depending on condition and how close it is to deer season.

Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.

    ford,
    H&R made a model 158 Topper Jet from 1963-67.It came in .22Rem.
Interchangeable bbls were avaliable in .30-30 and shotgun. It came with Lyman folding adj.open rear sight and ramp front.Plain pistol-grip stock and forearm,w/recoil pad.

The Model 158C was the same as the Topper Jet,but came in .22 Hornet,
    .30-30,.357 mag,.44 mag,.Straight-grip stock.Made 1963-86.

NEF does still offer theirs in .30-30 as far as I can tell.

IT'S WHAT PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THEMSELVES THAT MAKES THEM AFRAID.

    Thanks for the info.
My gun has the fold down rear sight,
    and the reacoil pad,
I would have never guessed it was made between 1960,s and 1986.
    Any idea of the value????
    Thanks,,[:)]

    fordtractor,
your model 158 should have a letter code(s) in front of the serial number. that letter code(s)can give you the exact year of production.
if interested post letter code here and i can look it up or if you have a blue book it is listed there in the back in chapter titiled 'serialzation'.
    actual production of this model is as follows;
    1963-1964 h&r 4-in-1 combo 30-30, 22 rem. jet, 20 gauge & 410 bore

    1974-only model 158c combo 30-30, 22 hornet, 20 gauge
    1975-1986 model 158 30-30 & 22 hornet (straight stock, rifle only)
    model 058 combo 30-30, 22 hornet and 20 gauge
    1982-1986 model 258 handy gun 30-30,22 hornet,357 magnum,357 maximun,
    44 magnum and 20 gauge-electroless
