Sounds to me like theres something you've misunderstood - but I'm not sure.

Doesn't sound to me, like theres anything wrong with the gun itself.

The Benelli Super Black Eagle that I own, had a feature or method of operation or what it is called.. that does something like you mention.

To load it, you put a shell in the open ejectionport and close the breech fully (with safety on offcourse) and then load the magazine tube.
When that's done, you're ready to hunt.

To UN-load it, you cycle the bolt once (safetycatch on) - this will eject the chambered shell but will NOT take another round from the magazine tube. The magazine tube does not eject the next round onto the arm that raises the cartridge to the chamber.
Then you go ahead and unload the magazine tube like with any other semi or pumpgun.

I think it's a great feature actually - but the bolt have to be completely closed in order to unload the magazine tube or the arm that raises the cartridge will not move away enough for you to unload the tube by hand.

This way also allows you to quickly change the chambered round from one kind to another - if you suddenly needed a Buckshot instead of birdshot. Because you only cycle the bolt, ejecting the chambered round and changing it with another kind - then lets the bolt close as you would when you first loaded the gun.

I believe there is a button somewhere, that will make the gun eject the chambered round and then take a new round from the magazine tube when you cycle the bolt.
I believe it's (if I remember correctly) a small flat button on the front side of the trigger guard, but if this is on the Super Black Eagle only - I can't recall, have handled a lot of the models, but only shot a few.

But it doesn't sound like there's anything wrong - it's just that Benelli semi-autos have another way of functioning than any other.
Check the manual carefully before taking it to the Gunsmith =o)

Peter, the 121M1 operates exactly as you mentioned. The bolt has to be closed to manually remove the shells in the tube. This is accomplished by pressing on the arm that holds the shells in the tube and releasing them one at a time.
I just thought that by cycling the action/bolt manually that the shells in the tube carry to the chamber then eject when you pull back on the bolt. I'm not complaining the Benelli is an awesome defense weapon.
Hey Greg, sorry I'm not even thinking of giving up the 121M1.
Thanks to all of you for helping me out. I thought something was wrong with it's operation.

    Hello again Mike.

I'm glad that you like your Benelli - and wouldn't want to get rid of it. Hold onto it, it will serve you for many years to come.

    I don't know the 121M1 personally, as I haven't shot it personally.
But I've shot the SBE semi-auto and Nova pumpgun and only held/operated the M1, M3 and M4.
Magnificient guns all of them - would want one of each sometime =o)

Personally - I like the way the Benelli works (loading/unloading), compared to any other semi-auto I've had or shot.
This includes Winchester 1500XTR, Remington 11-87, Beretta A390/A391 and some other brands that I can't recall the types of.

It's just a matter of habits - how it works.

    Happy hunting. =o)
