Unusual 22 caliber
The other day I picked up 4 boxes of this 22 caliber round , they were coned shaped and the bullets were just a little beigger than a pencil eraser with an acorn stamped on the rim. They were in a yellow and red rounded box of 100 each, with German lettering on them. I shot a few off and they are pretty low on noise, actually hardly any sound at all. I have heard these things being called rat shot, people were a use to shoot pests inside there home with these as not to cause much damage. Does anyone have any information on where to find any more of these, or better info on them than what I have.
Thanks

Sound like CB Caps. You're correct in that they were designed for "indoor" shooting. There are also BB Caps that have a rounded head. 0 -
kidsgun is correct! Hav'nt personally bought any CB Caps in some years...But have seen them at Gun Shows and in several Gun Stores in Arizona....You might pull J&G Gun Sales up on the Web and see if they still offer them For Sale.....and you might check Shotgun News or the Gunlist.... .22 BB Cap, .22CB Cap, .22 Short, .22Long, and .22 Long Rifle is the way the .22 Caliber was laid Out...
In German Beer Halls it used to be legal to shoot for beer..The .22 BB Cap was the Round used in Pistols...Normally at 2 to 3 meters..
.22CB CAP was the Rifle Round and was developed for Longer Ranges...up to 10 meters....and some Pistols were made to shoot this round...and many Flobert Rifles and Pistol were brought home to the USA as War Trophys from Europe...and many a Youth learned to shoot rats and mice in the Barn shooting BB and CB Caps...I know I did...!

Good Morning Captain,
Thank you for the information. You made my day. I've copied it for my records.

There's an ammo co. by the name of Colibri that makes a .22 round with no powder just the primer.

I'm pretty sure that the Acorn Trademark is that of the German firm, RWS. I have a round tin container with a few .22 BB caps in it with the acorn on the cartridge base. The BB cap has no powder in it; the ball is propelled by the primer only.

Boy did those Germans know how to have fun! Gives a whole new bent to the phrase "a beer and a shot"! I'd be willing to bet you this won't catch on in NY or California as a pastime to replace cigarettes as the vice du jour. I believe the red and yellow box indicates this was old RWS manufacture; I grew up in SW Mi. around a bunch of old Germans who were known to have parlor guns and took real pleasure in shooting playing cards and poker chips while sipping home made schnapps and real beer! Cannot condone this practice much anymore as I don't think the majority of us have anywhere near the tolerance level of those old boys. Oddly though I never heard of a single one of them accidentally shooting anything they did not mean to! You might want to try to bring up the Fiochi web sight as they seem to produce more odd and obsolescent then anyone else around. CCI was also producing CB at least up to fairly recently and might still do so. Have fun and plink safely!
