Glock cleaning
I just purchased a glock 26 NIB and would like to know other Glock owners opinions on cleaning/ maintenance ect. Brother says to put it in the dishwasher, I think he was kidding though. lol

if you bought it new, the book should explain takedown and cleaning. just take off slide, remove guide rod and barrel, brush out frame, rod the barrel, and go very light with the oil. as in 1 drop on each metal rail of frame where slide contacts. reassemble. very quick and easy gun to clean. 0 -

One bit of advice....when you take it apart, you will notice some copper-colored residue on the inside of the slide. DON'T CLEAN THIS STUFF OFF!!!! It is a lubricant put on there by Glock. Just wanted to express that.

After a couple boxes of ammo, that copper colored stuff(Permatex High Temperature anti-Seize Compound) can come out with cleaning. Some say it's there for break in. Some say it's there for long term storage in the warehouse or dealers shelf. once you bring it home, it's not needed anymore. Either way, the pistol should be field stripped and cleaned and oiled as mentioned above or as stated in the manual, especially check the barrel for obstructions before using the pistol.
As for cleaning the pistol, you will find alot of folks using just Simple Green cleaner on the frame as well as the barrel.
Others will use solvent on the barrel. Your choice, but do follow the manual for instructions on general maintainance.
Glock pistol don't require alot of oil, just a drop in the locations mentioned in the manual.
As for the dishwasher, it is a standing joke. I wouldn't want all the residue from shooting to contaminate my eating hardware.

The plastic bore brush that comes with the pistol does not clean nearly as good as a metal bronze brush, so invest in a good bronze brush.

I thought you used Glocks one then you threw them away kind like using a paper plate. [:D]Becasue after one use they tend to BLOW UP[V][:(!][}:)]
