S&W collector pistols
how would i go about finding a value to insure or sell a S&W model 39 with that serial number (39) with a steel frame, when they were trying out different companies to make the frames? Also, a S&W model 59 only marked "prototype" on the frame, no serial number. are there collector's specifically into this type of pistol, or where would i even put them on gunbroker to try and auction them. Both are without mars or rust. thanks, dave davek@sisqtel.net

If your interested in selling these guns, they can be listed on this auction.
The model 39 with all steel frame is on the C&R (curios & relics) list. The S&W catalog lists the steel 39 in new cond at $1500.00.
The model 59 lists for about $500.00.
If these guns are prototypes they would fetch more money from collectors. The lack of a ser number may cause problems with doing the required transfer paperwork.

Both pistols would have the interest of serious S&W collectors. Price quoted for the all steel 39 is about where the book/market is, and the price quoted for the 59 may be a couple hundred low.
Research the psitols before offering them for sale. Good sources are S&W Standard Catalog, various collectors/traders guides. Or go straight to the source and get S&W letters on the pistols which I would do to add value. Been a few years since I requested a letter but at that time cost was $25 and I think it will have gone up since.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
