Not entirly clear on your question.
The recoil lug is a piece of metal that is either part of or attached to the barreled action. It transfers the recoil from the barreled action to the stock.
Without a recoil lug, the barreled action would only be restrained by the mounting screws (OK in a 22LR, but not a real comforting thought on a rifle that produces measurable recoil.
Are you refering to the aftermarket lugs available for rifles like the Rem 700? There they replace the thin piece of warped tin that Rem uses with a thick and flat piece of steel to provide a true surface to bed (mate with) to the stock.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
Yes Tailgunner,I've got a "project" Rem 700 Sendero in 300WM and looking to improve its ability for long range target/hunt. In search for a Quality scope base and rings,Ken Farrell seemed to suit my needs in my price range for that item. 0 -
get a good .250"+ recoil lug,..skim bed the action in that sendero, and the Ken Farrel bases are a great product for the money. We have used 3 sets in the past few months,.and all 3 were straight as an arrow with little or no windage adjustment needed from the center of the adjustment range. A set of PRW rings from leupold or a set of Warne will fit that base nicely and provide a strong platform for your optics.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
