S&W Model 28-2 - Year Of Manufacture

I have a Smith and Wesson Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman.I am curious to know what year it was manufactured.The serial number is N5838xx. Many thanks.(as you can see in the photo the gun is not factory original)

  According to Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson that revolver was made in 1980.

  thanks Herschel-- I would have thought with an N prefix it would have been older than that.

  More info from Standard Catalog.......... The model 28-2 was made from 1961 to 1982. N prefix started in 1969.
