I would like some advice on storing my hand guns. I live in Florida and store my pistols in a safe with an electric rod heater. Most pistols are pre 1945 and are currently in holsters. Should I store them differently?? Should they be out of the holsters?? Should they be in zippered cloth cases?? Should they be coated with anything special to prevent surface changes?? I always remove fingerprints with a silicon cloth and clean them immediately after firing. Thanks for your help.

  You should not store them in leather holsters. The leather will damage them eventually. Wipe them down and put each one in a silicon sock.

  And, zippered gun rugs should be used only when transporting your guns. The metal zippers attract moisture from the air & this moisture is trapped inside the case with the gun.
  
  Kraft boxes & VPI paper work well, too.
