Might want to move up to a .38 with low power loads.

or a 32 if one is available to you.

When we married my wife had never fired a gun, but shortly afterward she said she would like to go to the range w/ me the next time I went to practice. So a few days later I packed my old Browning Challenger and Smith M-17 and off we went. We went through the revolver functions first, sight pictures, etc. and she had at it and after about a 1/2 box of cart. she could put all six into the black area of the target (Std. 25 yd. pistol target) at 10 yards. I fired a couple practice drills then we went to the Challenger and the functions of a semi-auto, and in half a clip whe was again parking them in the black area.

I went on and finished my practice session while she was in the shop area having a cup of coffee and talking with the woman that manages the range. When I came out, on the counter, ready to go, was a Buckmark Target that she had settled on ... all I had to do was settle the bill. Since them she has moved right on up the power chart and actually enjoys firing the 45's.

So with the ramble out of the way ... I let her pick her pace and she was happy with that. And I think that is the best way to do these things. But you might want to keep her away from the sales cases for a while[:D]

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

Leave Her be...! She's shooting a .22 and seems to be happy....Let Her decide when and if She wants to advance to something Bigger...!!! Don't You be the judge...If You scare Her or if She has a Bad experiance with Recoil or Muzzle Blast...You could possibly lose her completely...Take what You have and live in peace....

try a .380acp or a 9mm neither of these 2 calibers have much recoil.

I would agree with Invicta here, but Kirk does bring up a good point: if she is satisfied with .22's let her stick with them.

as long as she is having fun, you're on the right track [:D]

my girl and i have been shooting together for years, and the guns we take out most often are still 22s. i probably shoot that thing more than any other pistols. if you keep buying her 38 or 45 ammo, youll start wishing she would take out her 22 more [:D]

My wife was never around guns, but out on the farm, she has taken to shooting turtles in the pond... eat her fish... so, she took my ruger 22lr semi-auto with nice little scope. Then she tried out my pistols and took the SIG P232-380 ACP, 9mm x 17 kurz; she really likes it. But the recommendation to let it be her decision is right on.[:)]
