From your description you apparently have a Walther "Model V Sporting Rifle".

It present value would depend on the amount of factory originally, and present condition, i.e. the closer it is to the condition it left the Walther factory, the more money it would be worth.

The best thing would be to post, high quality photos, so the members could give you guidance, as to it's value and the best place to sell it.

Rufe-Snow: Your probably right on. The Walther has the banner and the gothic words sportsmodel. Lots of nice wood, even on top of the barrel like a military rifle. Cleaning rod. Condition 85-90%. All original including the sling, just the way I got it 50 years ago. Value, roughly? thanks

What was the history? Hitler youth training rifle? Also is grooved for a scope on top. Very accurate.

This general class of rifles were know as "DSM" German Sports Model and were made by many different manufacturers.

They dated from the early to mid 30's and were used for paramilitary training, prior to the time the Nazi's repudiated the Versailles Treaty and started full scale rearmerment.

My WAG would be to value it at between $300 & $500, depending on condition.
