Remington Sportsman 78
Anyone know anything about these rifles? They appear to be a low end variation with just a plain jane hardwood stock. Will any aftermarket stocks fit this rifle? Anyone know when they were made?

What can you tell me about the rifle?
Trigger seems better than the 700's....cleaner, lighter, etc., but I can't seem to find any info on it. Can pick one up for $250 in .223, with a POS scope on it.
Any info?

The sportsman 78 is a plain jane no frills 700 action. Everything else should be the same. Go to www.24hourcampfire.com and ask Tim N TN. I know he has at least one rifle built on a sportsman action. I looked at it and could not tell the difference. Except for the sportsman 78 engraved on the side of the action.

Try Boyd's stocks, they have about every style you could imagine and prices aren't bad, they seem to know their stuff too if you have a question. Cabela's has a pretty fair selection of synthetic stocks too. 0
