As long as the customer had the Firearms ID card from NJ and his drivers license then he was fine. Next step would have been a NICS check and if approved BINGO a sale !. If it was a M1 carbine or a semi type "assault" rifle then you must be careful what is legal or not in NJ.

God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?

Dealer don't know his business and lost a sale. Probably complains that he can't make any sales[}:)]

The term "contiguous state" has no meaning under GCA68; at least, it hasn't since 1986.

An FFL can sell a long gun to a resident of ANY state, as long as that person appears before him in the FFL's state, & the transaction complies with the laws of both states.

The laws are sometimes difficult to understand, so I don't get upset when an individual or dealer is afraid to make a sale that I know is legal. Through the process of natural selection, timid & stupid dealers usually die out.

I'm a resident of NJ, and have purchased many rifles & shotguns in Pa, I all I needed was my NJ Firearms ID card & proper paperwork.

Current ATF stance on this is that sales to New Jersey residents must be made by New Jersey Dealers only for any weapons. Unless taken to court on the issue, that is how they will proceed on the subject. We were inspected by the ATF and told the above info. It all stems from how the New Jersey Laws are written since they take precedence over federal law. All you have to do is call the new york or new jersey ATF office and see.
