Entirely possible that a Hatfield owned the gun, but it probably won't make any difference unless provenance can be established and the gun connected directly to the family feud.

C.S. Shattuck made such singles in Hatfield, MA. It's possible that your note refers to such and not the clan.

Several other companies made inexpensive utility guns. Stevens and Crescent are probably the most famous. Any of these companies would gladly stamp a trade name on their products. Yours is one of this type of gun.

I assume you're really asking value...

A collector won't be interested. If you came to me, I'd gently try to get you to keep the piece. If you insisted on a trade, then I'd offer $35.00 tops. A dealer might offer a bit more. He'd then put a tag of $100.00 on the gun, but sell it for considerably less (if he could get an offer).

Only if the gun has a documented history will the value change to any significant degree. I expect that the "note" isn't enough to make a difference.

By the way... Have a smith check the gun before you touch any ammo off. It's possible that the gun may be unsafe with modern loads. Maybe even probable that it won't!
