need opinions on modern weavers
i would like to hear opinions on what you think of modern weaver k series fixed scopes. the old, steel tubed jobs were good scopes, but i;m looking for a replacement. thoughts on the ones made currently ?..thanks

Given the relative standing Weaver scopes had in the K-series days, having essentially revolutionized rifle sighting by making the telescopic site the norm, the modern scopes are better than the older ones. They are not, however, anywhere near the top of the heap in scope quality. The Grand Slam is decent, but with a huge adjustment ring that interferes with the actio of some bolts. If I wanted a quality scope, I would look to Burris, Leupold or Nikon.

I have Burris, Leupold, and several others, but after a lot of looking and talking, I ordered a Grand Slam. For the money, they seem tough to beat, but school is not out. 0 -
Not up to date on the new Weaver's. Last one of those I bought was about 35 years ago...nice V-9, with parallax correction on the front ocular. Still sits on top of my custom 25-06 and still shoots great!
